Whether you’ve recently relocated to the Coral Gables area or are looking for a new place to try and local businesses to support, Dr. Lawrence Lesperance, of South Gables Dental, shares some of his favorite places to visit in Miami and around Coral Gables, FL. He loves the safe, historic, and community feel of Coral Gables and the many options for dining and entertainment.

Favorite Place to Eat in Miami

Doc B’s Miracle Mile in Coral Gables: If you’re looking for a casual meet-up spot with both indoor and outdoor dining and a wide array of apps to share and weekend brunch, this should be your go-to place. Dr. Lesperance’s favorite thing on the menu? The California kale salad with salmon.

Favorite Brewery in Miami

Bay 13 Brewery in Coral Gables: Don’t be fooled! This brewery serves up much more than just beer. It has pretty stellar food to match, too. According to the brewery’s website: Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen was conceived by two recovering accountants turned hospitality entrepreneurs and focuses on providing a comfortable environment serving quality beer, quality food with friendly, professional service in a relaxed atmosphere. What are Dr. Lesperance’s top items of choice? They include Drop Bear Double IPA and for food, his go-to’s are the lamb burger, bao bun, short ribs, and osso buco – hungry yet?

Favorite Outdoor Activity Spot in Miami

Key Biscayne: Staying fit and active is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Key Biscayne is a beautiful barrier island with sheltered beaches, mangroves, wildlife, and a lighthouse. It’s like going on a mini-vacation that’s right in your backyard. Plus, there are great bike paths to explore.

Top Socially-Distanced Activity in Miami

Outdoor concerts at the Arscht Center: Did you know the Arscht center is one of the largest performing arts centers in the U.S. and is an Art Deco style building that was built in 1929? So much history! With limited entertainment due to COVID-19, the outdoor concerts have been a wonderful activity for the community.

Favorite Gym in Miami

Coral Gables Athletic Center: The Olympic size pool, clean and plentiful machines, and convenient location make this gym a great escape.

Hidden Gem in Miami

Boater’s Grill on no-name Harbor Key Biscayne: It’s a little slice of paradise with beautiful views, plentiful outdoor seating, and some of the best fresh fish around. Whether you’re a local or have family and friends in town, it’s a spot that seems to get better each time you visit.

Must-See Spot for Locals or Visitors in Miami

Key Biscayne Lighthouse view from the top: The Cape Florida Lighthouse is situated in Bill Baggs Cape State Park. As the oldest structure in Miami-Dade, it has a long history tied to it. The view from the top is stunning and the walk to get up there is quite the workout, but very much worth the Kodak moment, you’ll be able to capture.
